Eyes up, Guardsman! We have nearly arrived in the Konor System.
Ultramar is one of the foremost realms of the Imperium and a delight to visit. While you will not be permitted any time away from fighting during this campaign, you will likely see a range of worlds and have ample opportunities to see some of the finest shrines, cities, and worlds the Imperium has to offer!* We have reproduced a section of Aldous Wrengellman’s Complete and Accurate Guides To Ultramar and Macragge here to help guide you on your journey. Some revisions have been made necessary by the passage of time since the guide was first written, and we have endeavoured to bring it up to date while maintaining the original quality of the prose.
THE FIVE WONDERS OF ULTRAMAR
A Note on the Locals
The people of Ultramar are simple, honest folk! Busy as they are prosecuting righteous wars in the name of the Emperor, the Ultramarines lack the time to provide the same firm, guiding hand upon their subjects that other Imperial citizens are used to. Many citizens of Ultramar have strange notions about the rights of an individual, or the correct level of respect due when talking to an Inquisitor or humble travel guide writer – pay them no heed!
The Tomb of Roboute Guilliman
Every year, millions of pilgrims flock to see the slumbering son of the Emperor himself, locked in perfect stasis! Legends claim he will only awaken when he is needed most by the Imperium.
REVISED EDITION NOTE: CURRENTLY VACANT
The Ruins of the Pharos at Sotha
The strange machine at Sotha was a miracle of engineering from Mars, allowing Guilliman to rally his forces during the Horus Heresy before making haste to Terra, where his Ultramarines made a valuable and timely contribution in driving out the small and scattered forces of the Archenemy.
REVISED EDITION NOTE: EATEN BY TYRANIDS
The Ice Caverns of Calth
The Majestic Ice Caverns of Calth are home to the final remains of Hive Fleet Behemoth, where the Tyrannic menace was defeated once and for all by the Ultramarines! Gaze upon these terrifying beasts – locked within the ice, never to reawaken!
REVISED EDITION NOTE: CAVERNS PERMANENTLY SEALED DUE TO MINOR DEFROSTING INCIDENT.
The Gardens of Iax
Iax is among the most beautiful worlds in the Imperium, known for its gentle climate, lack of urban development and enormous rolling fields. No wonder it’s known as the Garden of Ultramar.
REVISED EDITION NOTE: DESTROYED BY VIRUS BOMB, CURRENT STATUS: DEATH WORLD.
The Training Grounds at Talasa Prime
From the permitted safe zone, it is possible to see the elite warriors of the Deathwatch train! It is a privilege to witness the very finest of the Emperor’s warriors in action.
REVISED EDITION NOTE: THE DEATHWATCH IS CURRENTLY ON A STATE OF HIGH ALERT. DEMONSTRATE MAXIMUM CAUTION AT ALL TIMES **
Remember Guardsman, your efforts here will ensure that Ultramar remains beautiful and intact for years to come – fight not for yourself, but for your children, and their children!***
Thought for the Day – “The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Imperium.”
* Indeed, dying on a Shrine World is an excellent way to guarantee interment there without any form-filling or tithing. Please consult Uplifting Pamphlet 114//c: The Tomb of The Unknown Guardsman and Other Cost Effective Options In The Event of Early Termination Of Duty.
** Trooper Perkins has already faced sanction for his “Funny T’au Ethereal” impression. You are advised to visit the Medicae tent for a demonstration both of the perils of humour on the battlefield and a demonstration on how to dress and treat a wound from a bolt weapon.
*** As per your contract of conscription, the next 88 generations of your offspring are pre-registered for service in the Astra Militarum, so please note that any encouragement in this instance is largely rhetorical in nature.
