Evil walks among you, Guardsmen!

It has come to our attention that the war machines of the Adeptus Mechanicus may have been infiltrated by outside agents – Silica Animus, more commonly known as Abominable Intelligences. Unlike the crude computerised constructs used by primitive races like the T’au, these machines were designed by misguided humans who underestimated the value of good old-fashioned human labour, preferring to live indolent lives of wasteful idleness like the Aeldari.

Thankfully, spotting mechanical infiltrators is easy. Simply ask them loudly and clearly whether they intend to betray and kill you, as you would with a fellow comrade you had suspicions about. Any response other than blank, uncomprehending confusion is to be met with immediate hostility, and dismantling of said Imperial Robot.* Some rare, incredibly advanced patterns of Abominable Intelligence will be capable of resisting detection through these means, which is why we have devised a second stage of test:

Does it have an Aquila on it?

The mark of the Aquila is a sacred symbol for good reason – a sigil of the Emperor’s might worn only by the pure and just. You can be assured that no traitor, mechanical or otherwise, has EVER been deemed worthy of wearing such a symbol. This useful chart should assist you:

Good luck, Guardsmen!

* Following approval of commanding officer, Adeptus Mechanicus representatives, Departmento Munitorum, and so on. Attempt to way-lay the Abominable Intelligence with idle chat while a comrade fills in the requisite forms. Topics likely to prove distracting are the weather, paradoxical statements, and preferred strategies for playing Regicide.
